COMPASSION & EMPATHY
Definition: The client is treated with compassion and caring. Those providing care try to understand how they feel.
The compassion side of this attribute is about patience with the care recipient. Empathy becomes much more complicated; it is hard to imagine being in some situations. We may start by asking ourselves how would I feel about this situation and what would I want?
For example, older people adapt to limitations and loss of abilities and friends. It may be difficult to appreciate all this entails.
